Connecting your store to Sham Cash: the official route vs. third parties.
The official route is to request the API from Sham Cash itself through the request page on its website; access has been by request, not self-serve, since May 19, 2026. Third parties are independent services that link your account to their own servers through a session from the Sham Cash app, and some say outright that they don't represent Sham Cash. Start with the official route, and if you use a third party, know what access you're giving it and never share your verification code with anyone.

The difference
Official route or third party: what's the difference?
On the official route, you deal with Sham Cash directly, and Sham Cash decides whether to accept your request. With a third party, another platform sits between your store and your Sham Cash account, and your store talks to that platform's servers.[1][2]
| Point | Official route | Third party |
|---|---|---|
| Who you deal with | Sham Cash itself | An independent platform |
| How you get access | A request through the official request page | An account with the third party, then a QR scan from the Sham Cash app |
| Where payment data goes | Between your store and Sham Cash | Through the third party's servers |
| What it can do | Details not published | Depends on the service: read transfers only, or send transfers too |
| Fees | No published official fees found | A subscription set by each provider |
| Tie to Sham Cash | The official channel | Some say they're independent; others say nothing |
Official route
How do you request official access from Sham Cash?
On May 19, 2026, Sham Cash's official Telegram channel announced APIs that let businesses connect Sham Cash to their online store, app, or software to receive payments. It asked anyone interested to request the service through the request page on its website. On June 7, 2026, Radio Free Syria quoted Sham Cash's marketing and PR director as saying it had started accepting integration requests from businesses and digital platforms.[1][2]
Set up a business account
Sham Cash lets companies, organizations, and businesses open commercial accounts, and a commercial account can assign an “editor” so an employee can manage it. We found no official source confirming that API access requires a commercial account, so ask about it in your request.
Use official channels only
Open the request page from a link in Sham Cash's official channel or on its website, shamcash.sy. Don't use a link someone sent you or a page you don't know.
Apply and ask for the details
Ask about eligibility, required documents, fees, review time, and how the technical integration works. Keep the answers in writing.
Don't build on assumptions
Start coding the integration after Sham Cash replies, using the details it gives you, not unofficial examples found online.
Third parties
How do third-party services work, and what are the risks?
A third party here is an independent service that sells its own “Sham Cash API.” In the services we reviewed on September 29, 2026, it usually works like this. You create an account on the provider's platform and scan a QR code from the Sham Cash app to link your account. That creates a session for your account, which the provider keeps on its servers. Then the provider gives you its own API key. Some of these services only read your balance and incoming transfers. Others say they can send transfers from your account.
What that means for your store:
- It isn't the official channel. Some providers say outright that they don't represent Sham Cash, and we found no official Sham Cash source naming any of them as a partner.
- Someone else holds a live session to your wallet, and your customers' payment data passes through their servers.
- If the service can send money, a leaked API key could affect your balance, not just your data.
- The link can break if the session expires, if Sham Cash changes its systems or policies, or if the provider shuts down.
- We found nothing showing that any of these providers operates with authorization from the Central Bank of Syria.
Before any third party
What should you check before using a third party?
- Ask Sham Cash first, through its official request page, whether your store can get direct access.
- Look on the provider's site for a written statement of how it relates to Sham Cash. If there isn't one, ask.
- Find out whether the service is read-only or can send money. If you only need to confirm payments, read-only is enough.
- Find out exactly what access you're granting, where the session is stored, and how to revoke it from the Sham Cash app.
- Read the terms and privacy policy: who runs the service, what data it keeps, and for how long.
- Ask about outages and support, and set up another way to confirm payments.
- Never share your verification code, login code, or secret code with anyone.
In your store
How do you get your store ready for Sham Cash payments?
Whichever route you take, give your store its own business account instead of your personal wallet. Sham Cash offers commercial accounts for businesses, and an employee you assign as “editor” can manage one. Match every payment to its order by amount, currency, and reference before you fulfill the order.[3]
We found no official source stating API fees or merchant fees. The only official figure we found is for cash withdrawals: the maximum approved commission is 0.3% (3 per thousand) at approved exchange and money transfer companies, according to Sham Cash's announcement on August 13, 2026. Ask about fees when you apply, and don't assume the service will always be free.[8]
The rules
What's changing in Syria's e-payment rules?
On July 5, 2026, Sham Cash said it is developing its services in line with the Central Bank of Syria's regulatory direction and relevant international standards. News reports in July 2026 said the Central Bank had asked Sham Cash to formalize its status under the bank's oversight and to be more open about fees, and that Sham Cash is moving in that direction. As of September 29, 2026, we found no official source confirming this is complete.[9][10]
On the wider rules:
- On July 10, 2026, the governor of the Central Bank of Syria said a regulatory framework for e-wallets and e-payment services would be issued soon.
- In August 2026, the Central Bank announced the adoption of the Electronic Payment and Transfer System. It sets a regulatory and technical framework for payments and widens payment options for citizens and businesses, while cash stays in use.
- According to news coverage, the new system covers payment service providers and e-money providers, with requirements for governance, cybersecurity, and consumer protection.
- On September 20, 2026, the Central Bank issued the first implementing rules for the new system (Decision 616). Under the compliance rules issued the same day, a provider that has applied keeps running its current services, but it can't launch any new service until final approval.
These rules may affect third-party providers and payment services too, so check the Central Bank's official channels before you rely on any payment route. Our guide to online payments for stores in Syria covers the September 20, 2026 rules in more detail.
Maizny
How can Maizny help?
We build your store and connect the payment methods your business needs. Sham Cash is one of the local methods we've integrated. For this integration, here's what we do:
- We set up the payment step and the order confirmation page in your store, with manual payment review where it's needed.
- We help you prepare your store's details for the official request. Whether it's accepted is Sham Cash's decision alone.
- If Sham Cash approves your request, we connect your store to the official API using the details it gives you.
- We never ask for your verification code, login code, or secret code, at any stage.
Read our websites and online stores page, or print your draft to see what your store needs before you write to us.
Questions
Common questions.
Is the Sham Cash API open to anyone right away?
No. On May 19, 2026, Sham Cash announced that the service is requested through the request page on its website. Access is by a request that Sham Cash reviews, not self-serve.
Are the third parties selling a “Sham Cash API” part of Sham Cash?
Some say outright that they're independent and don't represent Sham Cash. Others say nothing either way. We found no official Sham Cash source naming any of them as a partner, so don't treat any third party as official.
How much does the official Sham Cash integration cost?
As of September 29, 2026, we found no official source stating API fees or merchant fees. Ask Sham Cash about fees when you apply, and get the answer in writing.
Do I need a Sham Cash business account?
Sham Cash offers commercial accounts for companies and businesses, but we found no official source confirming that API access requires one. Even so, keeping store money separate from your personal wallet makes payments easier to track.
